The Old Homestead Front Door

A word about Fall Foliage

Peak color, by a 100 year history, is the first week of October. Peak foliage by MY 28 year tracking is the 2nd or 3rd week of October, 20 recent years. Climate Change!

This year is a guessing game. We are seeing “Flags of Color” but these branches are quickly turning brown and dropping dead leaves. There are many stressed trees with “wet feet” from the rain and flooding of the summer. We also still see many hillsides of healthy green Maples. It is MY prediction they will be in full glory the 2nd and/or 3rd week of October. Of course there are many factors at play in the fall colors, but my bet is on the mid to later days of October for 2024.
